When I last visited my military Surplus supplier looking for interesting post war vintage whilst browsing row upon row of aisles stuffed full of anything from old parachutes to iron cups I spied a box of these red crossed throws. Immediately I fell in love with the concept of them as I love anything with a cross on it…I always loved SwissAir purely for it's logo for instance! Anyway I immediately bought a box home with me and set about adding my badge log and name embroidered in bright red in the corner. These are something that would look cool draped across a chair or as a beach towel or a bedspread. They are all an off -white colour and each one is slightly different..the ravages of time have not been cruel..even though the reason they were made was not for peace….

I have joined istagram, thanks to Client C who cajoled me at midnight last night and we spent the next hour playing iPhone buddies and downloading the entire Istagram app onto iPad, iPhone , Facebook, twitter, tumblr…you name it we now have it ! I am going to upload all our Client images…band and brand slowly to my Istagram and hopefully you will all start to follow ClientA. Client was so much about the imagery I am excited that a whole new audience can share our kinky Kraftwerk artwork. Client C

I am still working in my virtual online world trying to get traffic to stop at my shop which to all intents and purposes is sitting bang in the middle of the Gobi Desert! A few cars pass by but I am not on the main drag….in www terms at is!
I am now having an SEO survey done on my site and this will show the keywords I need to use to increase traffic. I have also hired a French PR person to look at all French speaking territories …it’s a start and next I am looking at Australia and the UK…but one step at a time…
I am now researching all postwar blogs….and that includes the London Blitz parties and am in talks with my supplier for a diffusion line for the high street…..It may be dark and dreary outside but stuck on the side of a welsh mountain I am doing my best to befriend the World Wide Web.

Here are some photos from the launch party at the Marais shop Ly Adams.
It was a wet night but that didn’t stop the party! I dj’ed all night and played a mixture of electronics – old and new mixed in with some Joy Division and the odd Stone Roses. the French seemed to love the music and in between drinking beautiful fruit cocktails from the Borderline brand and scoffing macaroons Client C and myself had an amazing time!
Thanks to Stephanie our new Client PR in Paris , Masha and Severine the place was full and the decks were loud!!

I am planning 2012. If 2011 was the year of the 'set-up" 2012 is the year of the promo. I am going to hire a PR agency in Australia, the UK and the USA. I had a meeting with a large online shop this week..they are waiting for a press release and then will set up a meeting with the buyer. I will take along my post war clothing contact as we have a proposal for them. It's all about gently chipping away whilst going forward. The post christmas sales surprise from far afield were a genuine surprise and a realisation that the web is indeed worldwide. If I can quadruple my reach this year I will be so happy. We are still tweaking the new shop..it wont really look much different ..just be inside the website..not a separate place and I will add some new "remade" finds..a danish skirt, a nurses outfit, a scout jumper, a messenger bag some handcuffs…and a new mens light trench coat.

Back to google analytics…..the only way is up!

The shoes are by the talented London shoemaker Red By Wolves. I think you will agree they finish off the coats perfectly and are a hint of what the girls might or might not be wearing underneath….

It's a new year..and I am really excited about 2012 for many reasons…for Client the Lifestyle brand it is a natural progression from the last year but I feel that the brand has now reached a new level and for this reason alone I am excited! I spent 2011 building it up and sorting out all the due diligence for the label..trademarks, copyright, designs, workshops, packaging, fabric..you name it 2011 was the year of the "sorting out". I launched the online shop in July and redesigned the website in December. A new shop is iminent too. I decided to add a music page as I wanted people new to the fashion line to understand the background I will add client music and merchandise to the new shop too . As we have a compilation coming out this year via Mute Records I feel it is important to link everything. I have moved the server to the UK too and will start google adds soon.

Here is one of my favourite snapshots of 2011 – it is Mush – the bass player with Client walking in the streets of Porto after a show. I love the shape of her body and the focus on the legs..no face.

Going into 2012 I will ignore all the doom and gloom. People still want to buy clothes and Music. Maybe less do but I firmly believe a Made in Great Britain label will mean more worldwide in the future. I have also sourced some beautful post war pieces which will be uploaded as soon as I can take them down to the London studio to shoot them….I need to expand my office too..it is literally crammed full to the ceiling! Happy New Year!

Here is Cecilia aka Swedish Client C wearing the Pan Am-like SAS Stewardess in grey wool..the dress has a slit of blue at the front..suggestive yet not slutty and puffed sleeves and a very strict button down front. It is well fitting in a slightly stretchy wool and will make every girl feel very Office-chic. Inspired by the SAS summer uniform 1960 courtesy of the uniform freak website..which I discovered to my immense pleasure when i was researching outfits for the Client band's tour of europe circa our City album.
