Client London are delighted to have been featured on The Independent's website. The article explains how many brands are bringing clothing manaufacturing back to the UK and proud of being able to deem products as "British".

"For Kate Holmes, founder and creative director of luxury brand Client, which specialises in military chic clothing, the ‘made in Britain’ ethos is key to her label. Taking post war and vintage garments and ‘remaking’ them in her North London workshop, Holmes uses buttons engraved with Client from the north of England and leather from the East London Leather Factory. “I just don’t feel comfortable making my line anywhere but the UK”, she says. “This is an ethical decision, but also a pragmatic one. For me to produce abroad would be a massive outlay as most factories won’t make less than 1000 pieces. When you run a small business, and place smaller orders, it is far easier with production in the UK.” A made in Britain label gives the garment desirability and a level of kudos. “More and more this is becoming a selling point as people become increasingly aware of the implications of producing domestically”, says Holmes."

I had given him one of the larger sizes so couldn't send any more. Damn I thought…then this picture turned up on the web yesterday at Heathrow Airport. My F2 ! Perfect for the worst April since 1800!

We had a great afternoon ( and evening !) party with over 20 press and bloggers attending…from Elle Magazine to the Figaro to Stilleto . I had bought lots of cakes and typically english biscuits at Marks and Spencers St Pancras and my only mistake was I kept putting milk in the tea!! Unlike us English the French like their tea black! Cecilia and Caroline, Client girls from London modelled the dresses beautifully and I gave presentations from my macbook ..all very professional! We gave away little goody bags of silk scarves and make-up and everyone seemed to really enjoy the event.

Blogger Dody French photo-documented the night and afterwards we went out to the bar at the wonderful Hotel Amour to round off a great day.

I popped into Julie's in Holland Park to meet my friend Jeanne Marine for a coffee. My NYC BF Rachel Felder also came along. She is a fashion journalist and i have known her for years…She has an amazing sense of style and even though she had arrived at 7.30 am that very morning she was buzzing and had absolutely no sign of any jet-lag…lucky her!!

Jeanne was shooting a Roger Vivier film for their website and there was an all-french film crew who were following her round on her bicycle for the day as she visited her favourite London venues. Holland Park was the location of Virginia's ..that famous vintage clothes shop of the rich and famous…the door is always padlocked and the shop is open strictly by arrangement only.

Attached to Jeannes bicycle was my Client vintage print scarf…she was going to wear the Strict Trench coat but it was just too hot on that mad 21 degree London day. Her Stalins secretary dress was too long for the bicycle so it was left to my scarf to wave the flag for London!

RACHEL FELDER

I have just opened a shop on ASOS marketplace. The main reason being The site is only lets you put up "real" photography which takes away the studio airbrushing so beloved of other retails sites. Also ASOS online are expanding at a fast rate worldwide…their 2nd biggest market is Australia. I have always seen Client as a worldwide brand so this appeals to me 100 per cent.

I met Nick Ashley – son of Laura! who has just opened a factory in Salford. He told me the Chinese are getting sick of seeing "made in China" labels and want British goods made in the UK. He said my uniforms would be loved in the Far East and I have a coffee with him next week…he said my Made in Britain brand is a rarity. Great to have such encouragement!!!

I also had a very interesting meeting with someone who wants to expand my Client idea's into something larger – scary but very exciting!

In the meantime I have my new nurses dresses, jumpers and skirts photographed and these will be uploaded as soon as we shoot them on our model..natural daylight of course  a La Asos!

Client's Nato Strict Trench has been chosen for a TV campaign for Not on the High Street the UK's leading online shopping  website for an alternative  for the High Street. Everything on the website is individually made and a lot is also Made in the UK- everything Client stands for. the Advert will run on UK terrestrial television for 2 weeks starting this week
